 Be Kind to Your Heart

The heart is tender, be kind to it.

Treat it kindly, and it will treat you kindly; if not, it will not do in return.

       And we will suffer.

Nourish it with kindness, and it will produce good fruits, and you will be blessed; nourish it with evil, and you will be in trouble.

Put your heart in a warm and secure place and soak it in the dharma-water of Amitabha's Great Compassion.

Lock it in the safe of Amitabha Buddha; there will be no disturbance, no horror, and no sorrow. Only peace and joy.

The heart needs love the most.

Place the heart in a flat, upright, and submissive position, so it feels comfortable.

The heart is like a lotus. Growing in a low-lying pond, it is bright; cut and placed on a high mountain, it withers and dries.

When the heart is set on gold coins, it will be corroded by money; when the heart is placed on fame and fortune, it will be cut by the knife of avarice; if the heart is laid on sex, it will be burned by the fire of lust...

When I place my heart on Amitabha Buddha, its toxins ooze out, and the wound heals

The heart is like a sponge; soak it in clean water, it is purified; soak it in sewage, it is poisoned. The human heart is so narrow-minded and petty, secretive and tortuous. Once soaked in defiled water, it is extremely difficult to get rid of the toxins. Even the water from a river cannot cleanse a fouled heart, the size of a fist; instead, it will pollute the river.

The heart that does good is warm and tender; the heart that does evil is cold and hard.

The heart of a mortal is harder than stone, harder than iron, harder than diamond. Nothing can soften it except the great compassionate light of Amitabha Buddha.

The heart determines one’s destiny. If the heart is wholesome, life will be good; if malicious, life will be disagreeable.

It is better to have inner peace than wealth, power, status,  or honor... People who have nothing, as long as they have peace of mind, have everything.

Neither wealth nor power nor knowledge can bring peace of mind; only the deliverance of Amitabha Buddha can.
