Identity
Individuals have many sides or aspects to their identity in the world. Among these are a natural human being, a person in society, a citizen, member of an organization or religious denomination, a professional, parent, child, leader.
What is our original role or aspect?
What is our real identity?
Which identity lasts eternally, after physical death?
Which one goes beyond worldly relationships?
Which one is our real and eternal identity, beyond all temporary masks?
Only when we are clear about this can our lives be peaceful, calm and free of doubt, enabling us to play to the full our various (temporary) roles.
There is no eternal ID card. Even “I” is only an interim identity.
Namo Amitabha Buddha is my permanent identification. It can be used in all the Dharma realms and is eternally valid. What about you?
As I understand it, to recite Namo Amitabha is to obtain a permanent identity card that’s recognized throughout the Dharma realms.
Guiding Principles
Faith in, and acceptance of, Amitabha’s deliverance
Single-minded recitation of Amitabha’s name
Aspiration to rebirth in Amitabha’s Pure Land
Comprehensive deliverance of all sentient beings
